Our first journey up north in 10 years and what a stunning, moving and emotional weekend it was! For both Aaron and I, the opportunity to revisit and refresh stringmansassy has been a long time coming. To share our new musical directions with North Queensland…wow! We had such an exceptional weekend and our thanks and gratitude to all those who helped to make it happen.
Firstly, the Tanks Arts Centre…without a doubt one of the great venues this country has on offer. And secondly, the Atherton Regional Art Gallery. A new ‘gem’ and intimate performance space, and a beautiful community who welcomed us with open arms.
Aaron and I have loved reconnecting with the far north and the audiences that joined us. Thank you for coming along and for making it such a wonderful experience for us both.
stringmansassy vocalist Kacey Patrick, has also been very busy!
In recent years – as well as raising her family – she has been a playwright, a musical director, a choir and drama teacher, a producer and an event coordinator. She has worked in production and coordination roles for Bleach*Festival and Opera Australia, and has continued to perform with The Saruzu Quartet, FIJ | Flamenco Indo Jazz and the Camerata of St John’s, Women In Voice and Women In Voice ‘On Tour’. With Linsey Pollak and ‘The Dream of Zedkat Nabu’ ensemble, she won the APRA Art Award for Queensland Performance of the Year 2012.
Most recently, Kacey has returned to jazz, with her first solo ‘jazz gig’ at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. She is continuing to write poetry and lyrics, with the view to recording a solo album in the very near future. Here are some of her offerings …. Kacey Patrick
stringmansassy guitarist Aaron Hopper has been very busy over the past few years – raising a family, organising festivals, performing as a solo and ensemble artist, teaching guitar and writing music for a variety of genres, from dance groups to guitar orchestras.
In November, stringmansassy will embark upon a ‘mini’ tour of QLD with some new songs on offer, previewing material we hope to record in 2015. Check out our events page from more details! It has taken us 5 years and for that we humbly apologise….but we do hope you will join us for this next instalment of stringmansassy.
